PORT Douglas skipper Kye Chapple concedes he is not quite over his osteitis pubis but is learning to manage it better as the year goes on.

The premiership captain had his way with a young Cairns Saints defence in Round 8, kicking 16 goals and eight behinds, in a dominant performance inside 50.

He could be on the way to a record season in the Far North after kicking 112 and 113 respectively over the past two campaigns. The big Victorian has only featured in five games so far this season but already has 44 goals, with hauls of nine, 14 and a career-best 16 over the past month.

“I am still sort of carrying it, it is niggling me a little bit,” Chapple said.

“I have had osteitis pubis in the past that has annoyed me. It is starting to come good now.

“After it gets warmed up, it is not too bad.”

The Port Douglas Crocs alltime goal kicking record is 18 with Chapple going within a whisker of breaking it against Saints.

He worked well with SANFL premiership player Lee Staple in his second game for 2017 and the talented Mitchell Bohm.

“They gave it to me on a platter all day,” Chapple said.

“I need to thank the midfielders and the backline, they gave it to me good every day but Saturday it was great.”

The Crocs travel south this Saturday to take on the inform Centrals at Crathern Park. The North Cairns Tigers will play their first ever game under lights at home as they host Saints.
