Up close and slithering all part of Reef Feast fun
PALM Cove Reef Feast offered Clifton Beach twins Halle and Cleo Trevett-Lyall everything from tasty morsels of locally-sourced foods to en- counters with creepy crawlies.
The 10-year-old twins’ mum Desrae Fidler said the whole family had been excited to head out to the Reef Feast Market Day for the first time.
“We normally go to the Palm Cove markets and thought we’d go see what Reef Feast was all about,” she said.
“We were looking forward to see the way local produce was used and have a taste.”
The girls were excited to meet a snake from Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures.
“They loved meeting the python and getting photos with it,” she said.
The Palm Cove Reef Feast ran from Friday to Sunday for back-to-back days full of food and funky tunes.
Stars of the opening day included the 10-piece Blues Brothers band, supported by Cooktown band Legends of Perhaps, as well as the great classics performed by local singers and musicians at the Opera du Jour.
CAIRNS turned the Esplanade blue yesterday in a bid to raise funds for type one diabetes research.
The JDRF One Walk in Cairns made up part of the one million people who took part in the event worldwide.
More than 120 people participated in this yesterday’s Cairns event, raising $782.50 in the plight to change lives.
Type one diabetes makes up about 10 per cent of all diabetes cases and is one of Australia’s most common childhood chronic diseases. There is no way to prevent or cure type one diabetes yet.
