Wartime links to treasure hunt
MANY people don’t realise the pivotal role that Cairns played during World War II.
The Cairns RSL Sub Branch has partnered up with the Cairns Post to deliver you a Wartime Treasure Hunt.
The treasure is $1000 cash and a runner-up prize valued at $800.
For the next five weeks, there will be an article featured in the Inspire section of the Tuesday Cairns Post that reveals a site of significance to the Pacific war effort during World War II.
The Wartime Treasure Hunt begins tomorrow, Tuesday, October 10, and ends on Tuesday, November 14.
The treasure hunt is open to Facebook event page Wartime Treasure Hunt at goo.gl/uY2Ahn 4. Tag the Cairns Post and use the hashtags #wartimetreasurehunt, #(insert your team name) and #cairnsrsl. Entries must be submitted by Tuesday, November 14. any team made up of one or more participants under 18 and identify as a member of a school, junior sporting group, or community youth group.
Your team must be registered to enter.
To register send an email to admin@cairnsrslsubbranch. com.au with the subject line “Wartime Treasure Hunt” and include the team name; team members’ names; which school, sporting or community group you belong to; and a contact phone number.
During the treasure hunt period, teams compete against one another to find the secret location of military significance revealed in each Tuesday’s Cairns Post.
