TAFE Queensland is rolling out a series of information sessions for Cairns residents interested in chasing their career dreams in 2018.

TAFE Queensland North Region general manager Joann Pyne said the information sessions were open to everyone.

“Attending an information session will be a great option for high school leavers and people who are looking to upskill for a promotion, launch their career or change jobs in 2018,” Ms Pyne said.

Information sessions at the TAFE Queensland Cairns campus will cover a range of study and industry areas including business, music, events, beauty, cookery, accounting, hairdressing, education, mental health, hospitality, youth work, visual arts, information technology, disability support, tourism and travel, community services, and five in 5S – and they all had really good prototypes to share and tell us how much their products would cost to make.

They told us how much they would cost to sell and what profit they would make.

The sharks were teachers on staff – Darani Monck, Brad training and assessment, sport and recreation, early childhood education and care and leadership and management.

“We have a number of information sessions planned throughout November and December to help people determine if a short course, certificate or diploma program is right for them,” Ms Pyne said.

“Our industry professional teachers will be available at each information session to provide a course overview and to answer any questions.

“We’re passionate about seeing our students succeed and I’d encourage anyone considering studying in 2018 to come along to an information session, you’ve got nothing to lose.”
