A CAIRNS man with 77 entries on his criminal history for property offending has been jailed for two years.

Raoul Thadias Clumpoint, 22, has already been in jail for 312 days.

He pleaded guilty in the Cairns Magistrates Court to a further 18 offences committed between December 2016 and May last year including burglaries, car theft and fraud.

The court was told the police were able to identify his modus operandi, which involved using a particular tool on the door-locking mechanisms of homes he entered.

Police also found stolen items at Clumpoint’s home.

The court was told Clumpoint had an extensive criminal history, which included 77 prior property offence entries.

“He has a propensity for committing these types of offences,” Prosecutor Megan Howard said.

Clumpoint has recently become a father after his daughter was born in January this year.

The court was told he has been in an out of jail and was already serving a sentence.

“Your offending was persistent, it was deliberate, it was planned,” Magistrate Jane Bentley said.

Clumpoint was jailed for two years with parole eligibility next month on May 31 taking into account the time he has already spent in jail.
