RAISING BROWS

- DANAELLA WIVELL danaella.wivell@news.com.au

IN 2018 we have all heard of the Instagram eyebrow, the wavy eyebrow and the on fleek eyebrow.

But what about the colourful eyebrow?

It’s quick, it’s easy and it doesn’t involve a single packet of hair dye.

Makeup artist Sarah Holmes said adding a bright pop of colour along the eyebrow was a quick way to give any makeup look an extra pop.

“Coloured eyebrows are like adding a really great accessory to your look,” she said.

“Whether it be a special occasion or you just woke up one morning and have the confidence to try something a bit more adventurous.

“They are a trendy fun way, to brighten your day. Anyone can wear coloured brows.”

Ms Holmes said there was no need to actually dye your eyebrows to achieve this look.

“There are many tech- niques to achieve this look but my favourite is using my Mac #266 angle brush, my Napoleon 2M spoolie brush, with a highly pigmented eyeshadow, matte preferably, like the Huda Beauty electric obsessions palette,” she said.

“If you are starting to experiment with colour, I’d advise to start with more of an ombre or soft pastel effect and build up your technique slowly. Then you can jump into any colour.”

She said to nail the look you had to start with clean, dry eyebrows. Then, the brows had to be mapped out and brushed into shape.

“Take your angle brush and dip it into your desired colour. Then, using short dash-like strokes to mimic natural hairs, softly fill towards centre to your natural arch,” she said.

She said to then blend a similarly coloured brow powder to the tail ends of the brows and brush through brows again with a spoolie to blend colour and diffuse harsh lines.

“If you make a mistake, don’t fret. Just take some concealer and clean up around the brows,” she said.

“For easy maintenance I would advise to set your brows in place for the day. Take some Napoleon Wand-er-Brow in Clear and brush through lightly to help hairs stay in place and lock colour in.”

She said it was essential for people who tended to touch their faces a lot during the day to make an effort to not wipe their fingers through their brows and to dab sweat away with a tissue or blotting paper.

“Remember confidence is key, so embrace colour. It’s fun,” she said.
