Television’s night of nights
The Gold Coast has cast a spell over the 60th annual Logie Awards with stars saying this year’s event has a holiday feel which makes it the most laid back ever. Many celebrities arrived a day early from Sydney and Melbourne for last night’s ceremony just to make a weekend of it.
THE glitzy Gold Coast has cast a spell over the 60th annual Logie Awards with stars saying the event had a holiday feel that made it the most laid back ever.
“It feels very relaxed,” Dave Hughes said before hitting the stage for the opening segment at the awards. “Shorts and thongs in July is a good preLogie warm-up.”
Gold Logie nominee Tracy Grimshaw said: “It feels pleasantly weird. I’m actually really liking it.”
Foxtel’s Andrew Winter was also embracing the Logie move from Melbourne to Queensland.
“I was going to wear the tuxedo plus thongs for the red carpet,” said Winter, also up for a Gold.
Other Gold nominees walking the red carpet include Grant Denyer, Rodger Corser, Amanda Keller.
Foxtel has a record 17 nominations has a 30-strong contingent including the main cast members of A Place to Call Home, Wentworth, and Selling Houses Australia.
This year’s event is more intimate, in the 670-seat showroom at the Star, smaller than Crown’s 1000 seat capacity.
