Hamiso shocks Raiders

- SAMUEL DAVIS

THE Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow show has caught the eye of FNQ Rugby stalwart Don Murday, who says the Southside Crusaders speedster is the fastest man he’s seen in country rugby.

The Port Douglas Reef Raiders’ president witnessed the teenage Crusader’s blistering speed first hand on Saturday afternoon as he led the visitors to a 48-17 win at Port Douglas Sporting Complex.

Tabuai-Fidow is contracted to rugby league’s North Queensland Cowboys and currently plays for the Northern Pride at junior level.

“He is absolutely Murday said.

“I’ve never seen anyone that fast in country rugby.

“He made us look like we were standing still and exposed us out wide. You just hope he reconsiders whether he wants to play our game.” sensational,”

The Reef Raiders put up a fight early but were outclassed in the second half.

“We gave them a real run,” Murday said.

“The match was tied up at half-time. We’ve got a bit of a bad habit of letting teams run away with it in the second half.

“Southside are a really physical team that are travelling really well, so I wasn’t unhappy with how we played.

“It was a good positive game of rugby. The conditions were perfect.”

Raiders captain Dylan Leahy returns from work commitments in South Africa next month.
