Stunning Aquarius home hits market

CAIRNS’ reputation as a prestige real estate hot spot will only be bolstered with early interest in one of the city’s first Esplanade penthouses.

Cairns Aquarius’ Penthouse Two was formally listed this week after two under-theradar inspections of the sprawling, four-bedroom, three-bathroom rooftop abode.

The tightly held property is on the market for the first time in 20 years and is only the second Aquarius penthouse to be offered in that time, according to Quaid Real Estate’s Tom Quaid.

“We sold the last one 18 months ago for $1.8m and this one is arguably a superior option,” he said.

“Aquarius was the best Cairns had to offer and arguably, because it’s the first, it is in the best position, near all the restaurants, has great views and absolutely nothing in front of it.

“It doesn’t have commercial as part of the building, this one is all residential.

“Opportunities to purchase in the building are rare full stop.”

With a floorplan of more than 250 sqm, the home also comes with some rarely seen extras, including a private rooftop pool and exclusive use of a rooftop terrace offering stunning views out to the ocean, Green Island and Marlin Marina.

“We see the time as being ideal for this kind of home to come to market, with a number of high-value transactions already completed in the past 12 months and a growing appetite for prestige property,” Mr Quaid said.

“While the Cairns market will see new apartment opportunities available in the coming years, at this stage there is nothing slated for the waterfront and it would be incredibly difficult to find a comparable position.”

Cairns Aquarius’ Penthouse Two is for sale by formal offer, closing August 21.
