Foodie feast hit with families

The Cairns Post - - NEWS - ANDREA FALVO

AN EVENT that brings together Cairns’ best food vendors and entertainment is showing no sign of slowing down.

Cairns on a Fork returned to West Barlow Park on Saturday for “Battle Of The Fork”.

With up to 3000 people attending throughout the afternoon and evening, organiser Shaun Ramsey said it was Cairns on a Fork’s third standalone event so far this year.

“We’ve brought it back to West Barlow because I think this has been one of the better received locations that we’ve had,” he said.

“Next month, we’re out to Bentley Park College for their fete and then one in November and hopefully a Christmas event. It just depends on how much the Cairns people want it, I think.

“If we see crowds start to decline then we’ll pull it back a little bit, but right now there’s a few popping up trying to do what we do and I think we’re all unique in our own way.”

Mr Ramsey said with most dishes under $12, it was an affordable night out for families, who were the target audience.

“One of the best things about it is seeing people together,” he said.
