Tigers too powerful for Bears
Gillette ODI Series EASTS have overcome a tumultuous start to their season to book themselves a place in the Intrust Super Cup grand final.
The Tigers will meet the Redcliffe Dolphins next Sunday in the premiership decider at Suncorp Stadium, after Easts yesterday claimed their spot with a 36-26 victory over Burleigh at Pizzey Park on the Gold Coast.
It has been an incredible rise from Easts to get into the 2018 grand final, after an injury-ravaged start to their year had them sitting outside the top six at the midway point of the season.
Coach Scott Sipple said overcoming those low points was the biggest challenge of his coaching career so far, but yesterday’s win showed they had the belief they could achieve anything.
“It’s been a long year, an up and down year, so it’s a bit of reward for effort,” he said.
Easts were boosted by the late inclusions of Storm forward Sam Kasiano and star five-eighth Billy Walters, who was not cleared from an ankle injury until late Friday night.
