Chunk for charity from Harley sale following surprise raffle win

- JACK LAWRIE

RICHARD Shaw wasn’t expecting anything when he entered the Wayne Leonard’s Motorcycle Muster raffle to win a new motorbike – he didn’t even have a licence.

Imagine his surprise when he learned he had won a Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883.

“I’m more a truck and tractor person, so the bike is for sale,” he said.

Mr Shaw will sell the motorbike through Harley Magic, with 25 per cent of the proceeds going to the Far North Hospital Foundation.

“The foundation does an amazing job for people in Cairns, I thought it was important to take part, even just by buying a $4 raffle ticket.”

Mr Shaw bought the tickets off his colleague at Cobham Aviation, Dan Rayner, who was taking part in the muster to raise money for new EEG equipment at Cairns Hospita.

“I would’ve ridden it if I’d won,” Mr Rayner said.

Harley Magic owner Wayne Leonard said people could visit the shop to make an offer on the bike, which was valued at just under $15,000.
