New high for tourism

SKYRAIL is bring­ing the story of the Wet Trop­ics’ rain­for­est to life like never be­fore in the lead up to the tourist at­trac­tion’s 25th an­niver­sary in 2020.

The re­cently com­pleted Rain­for­est Dis­cov­ery Zone at Skyrail is now open to the pub­lic, al­low­ing visi­tors to nav­i­gate the evo­lu­tion­ary his­tory of the Earth via an il­lu­mi­nated time­line that snakes its way along the ceil­ing. An in­ter­pre­ta­tive app and au­dio guide are due to be launched by the end of this year.

And the at­trac­tion’s “Edge Look­out” at Bar­ron Falls is also set to be open in early 2019, giv­ing visi­tors amaz­ing view­ing per­spec­tives of the Bar­ron Falls and Gorge.

The 7.5km Skyrail, which opened in 1995, was orig­i­nally in­stalled with 47 gon­do­las.
