SLATER’S SUPPORT

TOYAH CAMPAIGN:

- CHRIS CALCINO chris.calcino@news.com.au

A STICKER signed by rugby league legend Billy Slater will be raffled off to help fund a community campaign to smoke out murdered Cairns woman Toyah Cordingley’s killer.

The former Melbourne Storm fullback lent his autograph to the campaign during a hometown visit to Innisfail after being approached by resident Sol Daley.

Mr Daley has a rare insight into how Ms Cordingley’s family must be feeling following her death.

He said he had lost his sister to a husband who killed her and their kids before taking his own life more than 20 years ago.

“As much as I try to put it to the back of my head, every time something like this happens it brings it back,” he said.

“It makes me ill and I’ll do anything I can to help.”

The sticker campaign has notched up enormous numbers with about 40,000 decals being printed so far.

Mr Daley said printers in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Mount Isa and Wyong had also got on board.

“Those have all been done for free, but it’s getting to the point where we need to raise money to get more printed,” he said.

“All it will take is to put the puzzle pieces together.

“One person has one piece, another person has the other, and when we put them together we will get the full picture.

“These stickers could be what makes that happen.”
