Dob in a dealer and save lives
CRIME Stoppers and police are urging anyone with information about drugs to come forward through the new Dob In A Dealer campaign.
The campaign keeps calls anonymous and even offers rewards to callers if their information leads to an arrest.
Acting Inspector Kevin Goan said the calls would make a huge difference.
“About 75 per cent of all calls to Crime Stoppers are drug-related. The drug ice is of a particular issue. It rates as one of the most insidious drugs that we’ve ever encountered,” he said.
“We’re very pleased to be part of the campaign so we can get from the community of Far North Queensland the information that they may have been withholding. We want to know who the dealers are on the streets of Cairns causing harm to our community.”
Member for Cairns Michael Healy urged the public to get behind the initiative.
“We know that the impact of drugs is absolutely fundamental (to) the collapse of the traditional family unit. It has broader issues for our community,” he said.
