Bar may be pintsized but the one-of-a-kind mobile bar solution is bringing something unique to parties and weddings across the Far North.

The idea for a compact mobile bar that really packs a punch was born when owners of the business, Travers and Alyson Wilkins, were planning a backyard wedding but couldn’t find a mobile bar to keep the guests hydrated.

So the couple specially imported a three-wheel Piaggio Ape all the way from Ms Wilkins’ home country, Italy.

“It came over as a ute and it is what they used back on the farm in Italy,” Mr Wilkins said. “So we turned it into a bar.” The vehicle has been lovingly restored while keeping much of the classic Italian detail.

“A lot of thought went into the design of it and making sure we had a really good product to provide people in any sort of market,” he said.

“We kept the colour scheme the way it is so it can become a clean slate for whatever style of wedding or event people need.”

All kinds of drinks could be dispensed but Peppe’s Bar did have an arrangement with local craft breweries and Tattooed Sailor Coffee.

“You can have beer, ginger beer, wine and there is 20-litre kegs so it is a lot cheaper,” he said.

“We want to provide an affordable solution,” Mr Wilkins said.

The business launched at the Cairns Wedding Expo in November last year and people across Cairns had been taken by the only offering of its kind in Far North Queensland.

“People are loving it,” Mr Wilkins said.

The mobile bar is powered by a 50cc engine and is road registered but is delivered to each event on the back of a specially made trailer.

Once on site it can be easily moved into position.

It has been popular with business Christmas parties and weddings but is also taking bookings from sporting events and parties.

The compact bar measuring 2.6m by 1.3m means it is an easy fit into a backyard.

The bar offers four taps and a manned cocktail bar which can serve everything from espresso, kombucha, beer, wine or cocktails,

The launch of Peppe’s Bar has been realisation of a twoyear dream for Ms Wilkins who named the bar after her nonno, Giuseppe, who died last year.
