Banana growers celebrate industry

- ANDREA FALVO andrea.falvo@news.com.au

BANANA growers across the Far North are being encouraged to join the much-anticipated 2019 Australian Banana Industry Congress for a chance to network with other industry representatives and celebrate the industry and its future.

Running from May 22-24 on the Gold Coast, the event will feature a jam-packed program, which has been 12 months in planning.

The program will focus on grower interaction and plenary sessions that are informative, motivational and will allow growers to take valuable learnings back home to their farms.

Congress committee chairman Paul Inderbitzin said the program “covered all bases”, featuring a line-up of speakers with a diverse range of expertise, insight and inspiration.

“I am genuinely excited for what 2019 holds for the Australian Banana Industry Congress,” he said.

“Congress brings growers, industry researchers, market leaders and decision makers together under one roof, to share ideas, network and hear about the latest developments affecting our industry.

“More than an industry gathering, it’s also an opportunity to socialise and take stock of what we do.”

Site tours and social events will also be part of the occasion, with the Banana Ball returning to celebrate the industry’s best and brightest on the final night.

Those who register before March 15, will receive a 13 per cent discount.
