Girls’ chance to try cricket

-

AFTER all the hype of Cairns hosting its first WBBL match at the weekend, Cricket Far North will hold an all-girls school holiday cricket clinic at Edmonton’s Walker Road Sporting and Recreation Precinct tomorrow.

Cricket Far North’s female director of coaching Janet Argoon said the school holiday program, which will run from 9am-3.30pm, would be a fun, social and safe way for young girls who are interested in the game of cricket to find out more about playing it.

“There’ll be lots of little skills-based drills and games with a focus on making it a lot of fun for all of the girls,” she said.

The all-day clinic costs $30 and includes a bag of goodies for each participant.

A combined boys and girls’ school holiday cricket program will run on Thursday, also at Edmonton. All equipment is supplied. Interested parties are required to register online at www.playcricket.com.au; search for ‘Edmonton’ where it says ‘Where can I play?’ and register for the desired clinic.
