TAS swimmers set a high standard
TRINITY Anglican School’s swim team has posted its finest results in the past five years and can now call itself the best club in the Far North.
Eleven athletes competed in 70 events at the State Swimming Championships in Brisbane in December.
The team clocked up a total of 56 personal best times and five individuals swam in a total of 18 finals.
Ella Goddard won a gold medal for in the 15 years 200m butterfly – the only swimmer in the Far North region to win a state title last year.
TAS swimming director Duncan Todd said the students “did well”.
“We enjoy being the competitive program to beat,” he said. “In the past it’s only been one or two kids making the finals but now we’ve got more and more kids at meets and that’s a real indicator the program is doing well.
“We have a great team of coaches and we’re just focused on keeping kids in the sport. It’s a tough sport, they put in a lot of hours.” Head of Produce, Woolworths. Shepard avocados are now in season.
