Hospital is efficient
THE Cairns Hospital recently took me in as a patient. I have often referred to the history of Cairns, the first canvas tent hospital was established at its present location.
The early settlers were cared for but usually died from mosquitoes and insect bites which gave them a sickness known as malaria. My admission involved a common problem, has a medical term called Urology. From my first inquiry I needed emergency assistance. I received a prompt friendly and efficient attention to assist me with the condition that I was suffering.
Over the following months the professionalism of the more than 80 different people who attended to my condition was of exceptional service. I was admitted for a surgical procedure and all of the hospital care up to the surgery, including pre-hospital admission, blood tests, follow-up phone calls and written communication was excellent.
My heartfelt compliment is to write that the Cairns Hospital performs efficiently. There are people who service the building, the electrical, the cleaning, the efficient transport of patients in wheelchairs and stretcher beds and vehicles.
The location of the many volunteers who are at various places around the hospital to provide answers to the public.
I would also like to mention that it is a very happy multicultural environment.
There were people working as an efficient team who were from Korea, the Torres Strait, China, England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, India, Africa and even a country called Burma. I appreciated everything. Wayne Black, Parramatta Park
