Bailey on mission to recruit 200 workers

CRYSTALBROOK Collection has launched a campaign to recruit another 200 workers ahead of the opening of its second five-star hotel in Cairns.

The $120 million Bailey hotel is set to open its doors in September with 217 luxury rooms and suites alongside three restaurants and bars.

Crystalbrook human resources and operations group director Laura Stehr said the growing company would first seek to fill senior management roles but encouraged anybody passionate to work for the chain to send in their CVs “even if they don’t see their perfect role as we have new positions available each week”.

“This will lead up to group recruitment days, which will be held in July 2019,” she said.

“We’re looking for collaborators (staff) who are passionate to work for a young and fast-moving hotel group and who can relate to Bailey’s unique creative personality.”

The company has already named the hotel’s new general manager, Carl Taranto, who joined Crystalbrook as a member of the pre-opening leadership team for the group’s first hotel, Riley, in early-2018.

An accomplished hotelier with more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, Mr Taranto has held various leadership roles across luxury hotel groups including Marriott, Sofitel, Peppers and Versace Palazzo.

“This is a great opportunity to open such a unique and inspiring property,” he said.

“I look forward to leading the team and seeing Bailey’s thoughtful, arty personality come to life.”

Crystalbrook Cairns area manager Joel Gordon said it was an exciting time for the company.

“Carl has proven himself very quickly in his leadership role at Riley and I’m proud to have him lead our Bailey team,” he said. Visit crystalbrookcollection.com/ current-roles
