FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Sharks certain to click in attack

- ROWAN SPARKES

CDRL MOSSMAN-PORT Douglas coach Brian Murgha isn’t feeling worried after his side was on the wrong end of a Innisfail comeback in Round 1.

The Sharks will travel to Ivanhoes’ Smithfield grounds tonight for a showdown, and Murgha is hoping young recruit Jimmito Harris will be right to take the field as the team hunts their first win.

“He’s still a young kid coming through the system,” said Murgha. “But he was part of Ivanhoes Knights v MossmanPort Douglas Sharks at Ivanhoes Grounds, Smithfield. A Grade: 7.30pm Reserve Grade: 6pm Women’s NRL League Touch: 5.15pm the premiership-winning Yarrabah team in 2017 and he’s been through the Pride system, so he certainly knows how to play the game.”

Harris joined the Sharks in 2019, but missed out on a Round 1 start through injury.

“He got hurt in the trial game and I didn’t want to risk him,” said Murgha.

“But he trained quite well on Tuesday and pulled up all right.”

Murgha said Harris was being put through a final test at last night’s training session to prove his fitness.

He said discipline was a focus for this week’s game.

“Both in our decision-making with the ball and in defence,” he said.
