Why do bus companies keep angry, rude and aggressive drivers for? Complaints are made and nothing is done. Why? There are a lot of people looking for work and want to work. What happened to instant dismissal if more than than complaints came in about you? Are these bus drivers protected? By the union’s perhaps? Allison, Whitfield Why are drivers such stickybeaks? Late Tues arvo heading north on the Captain Cook Highway there were long delays due to a minor bingle located between the Machans and Holloways roundabouts. The affected vehicles and emergency services were off the road in the centre strip and rightly so the speed immediately drops to 40km/h to protect all but many drivers in front were crawling at 5 to 10km/h to have a gander at the scene. Why? Just move on. Jimmy, Smithfield The policing by weighing vehicles towing caravans or trailers should apply to every ute, twin cab, 4x4, whether commercial or privately owned. Most tradie utes will be overweight and most 4x4s will also be overweight. No one seems to read the manufacturers’ recommendations or attempt to comply. David, Holloways Beach Phil Mcluskey (CP, 28/08) you need to change the channel now and then and give the fake news a spell. Trump inherited a growing economy from the Obama Democrat administration. America is now known as the Divided States and is nothing but a joke on the world stage because of the Trump stunts. Observer, Australia The more money is spent on NAPLAN the worse the NAPLAN news gets (CP, 28/8). Obviously our government will tell us even more money must be spent. Ruth, Brinsmead Let’s hope JCU’s Mobi the Mudskipper cartoon (CP, 28/08) actually teaches facts to kids and not some of the obviously wrong things we’ve heard from JCU about the reef. If the cartoon had been made a year or so back would it have taught the kids that the Reef was already dead? Mark, Cairns North B-double on the Kuranda Range (CP, 28/08). What use is that expensive camera system if it can’t see a B-double illegally starting up the range? Surely the traffic coming the opposite way should have been stopped at the top of the range as a bare minimum safety precaution. Unless the cameras never were about safety. Steamed, Cairns Re: road safety week. Why don’t they start teaching road safety in schools and not have parents teach our children to drive? The wheel keeps turning … Alan, Bentley Park Good on Pauline for climbing Uluru. It’s for all Australians to enjoy not for a minority to lock up. Scoobie, Trinity Beach
