Bond lose title fight

FORMER Manunda Hawk Tiara Ernst was one of Bond University’s best as her club fell to Coorparoo in the 2019 QAFLW Premiershi­p. Coorparoo are back at the top of senior women’s football in Queensland following a big win over Bond University by 76-points at Leyshon Park at the weekend. Ernst was moved from centre-half-forward to full back in a change that helped her side but it was not enough to get them over the line.

Challenge hits FNQ

THE Kozii Iron Challenge is coming to Ellis Beach this weekend to give North Queensland nippers, seniors and masters their first opportunit­y to participat­e in this style of surf racing. Surf Life Saving Queensland North Queensland Branch is bringing the challenge to the region for the first time and invites the public to watch. The Kozii Iron Challenge is at Ellis Beach from 8am to 1pm on Saturday with presentati­ons from 1.30pm.

Roberts risks ban

MANUNDA Hawks on-baller Jordan Roberts is yet to face the AFL Cairns tribunal following his report from a game against Cairns City Lions earlier this season. Roberts had the option of facing the tribunal on Tuesday night but could not attend. If Roberts is to be suspended from the charge, he would receive another life ban, after he successful­ly appealed his first life ban earlier this year through AFL Queensland.

Honour for Swain

SHANEICE Swain has been named the Under 23 Player of the Year for the QBL Season.
