On climate protest

-

The query isn’t on whether climate is changing. Blind Freddy knows that it is. The major problems here are the ideologues, the virtue signalling, the victim oppressor narrative, the post modernism on steroids and the over simplification of a problem with a Messianic one size fits all answer. Anyone who understands recent human history can smell this rat we’ve dealt with it before, in fact most of the 20th century was ruined by this. Try and figure out why people, by and large, either recoil at the way this discussion is delivered or jump on-board and grab their free virtues. It’s super obvious, to the point of it being facetious to continue pretending not to understand. Mark, Smithfield “Climate strike debrief” (CP, 24/09). Globalism military-style, comrades. Coming to a youth group near you. Mia, Stratford Know what caused the recent surge in climate crazies? The embarrassing absence of a climate emergency. The climate won’t co-operate so the snake oilers are confecting the panic their sales require. Kai, Cairns Why do alarmists always get so insulting when people don’t agree with them? What example are you setting for your children‘s children? Robbo, Gordonvale Why are climate protesters simply being annoying instead of doing something in line with their beliefs - like refusing all goods and services reliant on fossil fuels? Because their protests are religious indulgences which exempt them personally from having to walk the walk. Jody, Earlville It will help move policing out of the dark ages that required police on every corner as demanded by the public. Every street should be under CCTV not only the CBD thus allowing police to be reactive to potential crime. Tony, Cairns Re: deportation (CP, 24/09). There is little community support for allowing foreign nations convicted of criminal acts to remain in Australia. The convicted armed robber Mr Teaurere is a case in point. Deport him now. It’s a privilege to be able to live in this country. Break the rules and you’re gone. Keep up the good work (Home Affairs Minister) Peter Dutton. We don’t need foreign criminals living in our community. Rick, Redlynch We are all aware the $1250 bonus to public servants is simply to get votes and I don’t begrudge police, firies and ambos from receiving this, the rest, including teachers, I do. Queensand has the highest number of public servants per capita of any state and do so to control their union votes. I feel for our farmers. That money would have delivered 2.5 million semi-trailer loads of water to farms and rural communities, many of whom have little or no water to drink. I leave it to you to decide. Robert, Earlville The Veronicas have had their PR stunt over blown. My wife is about 1.5m tall (five feet) and manages, without help, to stow her backpack in overhead lockers. Airline cabin staff aren’t servants. David, Holloways Beach
