Student protest
WHILE I have no problem with the younger generation taking a stand on issues that they consider concerns them, there are comments that I would make to them in relation to the protests of last week in relation to climate change and against coal mining.
Renewables will, no doubt, in time replace other methods of power generation but placing impossible and unachievable time frames on this does not make good sense.
I ask also if you have given any thought as to where much of the money comes from that funds building and maintenance of your schools, pays for your education, pays the salaries of your teachers and indeed most other public servants, pays for our roads and other infrastructure, our hospitals and many of the services that we all take for granted? The answer is easy. Much of this indeed comes from the income derived by the Queensland Government from coal.
Whatever you believe replacing this from other sources will not happen any time soon and nor will the many thousands of jobs that coal mining provides.
