Cashless laser wash opens

Hi-tech operation puts shine on plans

CAIRNS’ first cashless car and dog wash facility has opened in Manunda.

iClean Carwash is a retirement plan for Keir Constructions owners Russell and Chris Keir. With the latest technology, including a laser automatic car wash, the business, at 60 Anderson Rd is attracting plenty of customers.

The Keirs’ son Brad, normally an electrician in Brisbane, has been on hand the past few weeks helping with the launch of the business which was delayed slightly by electrical connection issues.

“Keir Constructions is a locally owned and managed business and we built the automatic car wash at Redlynch so Russell thought this site was perfect for another one,” Mrs Keir said.

“We’re always looking at new business opportunities and while we were redoing the Ford and Toyota sales yards we came to understand just how many new cars are being sold in the city, so this was a perfect fit.”

Open from 7am-10pm seven days, iClean has two automatic laser wash bays, which clean vehicles without anything touching the sides, as well as three manual wash bays for those who prefer to DIY.

There are also four self-service vacuum cleaning bays and two K9000 dog wash bays with warm water.

Mrs Keir said the added advantage of the business was no cash or tokens were required to operate, just tap a credit or debit card.

She said the family attended an international car wash convention in Melbourne and visited plenty already in operation in Victoria before deciding on the machinery and location for iClean.

“We’ve got the latest in laser wash technology from the US and you can get the automatic wash from $15,” Mrs Keir said.

“If you’re cleaning your own car, it’s only $5 for 7.5 minutes, which we’ve tested and is plenty of time to get around all sides.

“You can also choose a carnauba wax clean and there are two staff on seven days a week to help with the cashless system.”

There is also a vending machine and seating for kids.
