COLES has unveiled its newlook Smithfield supermarket.

The refurbished shop has a new bakery section, marketstyle fresh produce department with a large range of fresh fruit and vegetables, a gourmet delicatessen with a large range of specialty cheeses, gourmet biscuits and a 16foot antipasto cabinet, and one of Coles’ largest ever scoopand-weigh stations.

The reinvigorated store is part of Coles’ ongoing investment of more than $10 million in Cairns over the past five years, creating new jobs at the recently refurbished Coles Cairns Central and Coles Earlville.

Smithfield store manager Marcus Baxter, who has worked with Coles for more than 15 years, said he was excited to officially reopen the doors just in time for Christmas.

“We are so proud of our team members here at Coles Smithfield for their fantastic work over the years, and we’re also pleased to welcome seven new team members from the local community into our amazing new-look store,” he said. “We have had some very exciting changes to the store, including a new open-front bakery with our exclusive Laurent Sourdough range, a new look deli with an extended range of local and international cheeses perfect for holiday entertaining, and a fantastic new look fresh produce section with everything our customers need to feed the family this Christmas.”

The Smithfield team are proud to be supporting the local Young Animal Protection Society (YAPS) in Smithfield with a $5000 donation to help care for abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats in the Cairns region, and will continue to support charities including Redkite, SecondBite and Hummingbird House through fundraising appeals and events.
