Amazon providing pick-up service
AMAZON is rolling out parcel lockers and a new click-andcollect service.
The US online retail giant will operate parcel lockers in various newsagents, Commonwealth Bank outlets and Stockland shopping centres from today.
Selected newsagents will also provide a click-and-collect service – dubbed Amazon Counter – where goods purchased from Amazon’s Australian site can be collected.
The move by Amazon comes as the retail sector struggles to make the economics of home delivery work.
Amazon Hub director Patrick Supanc said the new collection services would give customers more flexibility over their shopping experience.
“Customers have told us that home delivery is not always the most convenient option which is why we’re excited to introduce Amazon Hub to Australia,” Mr Supanc said.
Amazon launched its Australian shopping site late in 2017.
