THEY came in droves, wearing hats and tapping along to an Australian country music legend.
Plus supporters of the Cairns
Post Club also raised $4390 for Rural Aid when Lee Kernaghan entertained the crowd at Friday’s event at the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino.
The country music star was back in Cairns last week, having last visited in August, playing a sold-out show at CPAC on his
Backroad Nation tour.
More than 150 guests heard anecdotes about life in music and on the road.
Mr Kernaghan is working on his next album off the success of
Backroad Nation and said travelling Australia was a great source of inspiration for his music.
The event was described as “another unique experience for Cairns Club members” by Cairns
Post general manager Andy Reeves.
He said again he was delighted by the generosity of the community in supporting Rural Aid.
“This charity is well-known for the highly successful ‘Buy a Bale’ campaign, and also provides financial assistance, water and counselling to farmers in times of natural disaster,” Mr Reeves said.
“We’ve all watched with horror at what’s been unfolding, not only in our region and in Queensland, but right across the country with the bushfire emergency.
“It is important we give back to the community and I’m proud to be part of an organisation which has backed Rural Aid.”
Mr Kernaghan headlined the final Cairns Club event of 2019. His appearance followed successful talks from mountaineer Michael Groom, media legend Kerri-Anne Kennerley and fitness queen Michelle Bridges.
NRL coach and former player Craig Bellamy will come to Cairns on February 14, 2020. The club offers an opportunity for Cairns businesses to cost effectively promote themselves in the Cairns Post, network with other business owners and be entertained at each of these quarterly events.
