Re: Games bid. Incompetent Premier says the numbers stack up to go for the gold. Getting the fudged numbers to add up. Premier were they done with the ones you used to change a Queensland iconic name at a hospital? This country can’t afford the games; not while veterans, homeless and working poor exist. “Too many cooks spoil the broth”, an old saying but true. I believe this can be perfectly aligned to all the separate organisations that supposedly promote our area in many ways to enjoy a holiday or even live here. They all rely on government or council funding, yet promote contrasting views. I suggest it’s time for them to overcome personal egos and act as one entity, using both their natural ability and fundings to our mutual benefit.

We’ve now seen stories of Russian interference in the UK elections. The Russians spun fake news that Boris would sell the NHS to the US. So why do US Democrats blame US Republicans, their fellow countrymen, for Russian meddling? Shouldn’t they be raging against Russia with its proven track record of interfering with democratic processes?

By imposing a cripplingly small capital dredging limit on the Cairns sea port (CP, 10/12) our own State Government has officially proclaimed: “No more jobs growth for you, Cairns. You can have more people, but no more jobs and no more growth for your economy.” That’s already official government policy for the Tablelands, as we’ve seen with the pre-birth strangling of KUR-World (CP, 10/12). According to Rita Panahi the Israel Folau result was a win for free speech. As usual, she was wrong. It was a win for religious bigotry.
