Expo market stalls

COOK Shire Council is calling for pre-registrati­ons of interest to hold a market stall during Cooktown Expo 2020. If accepted, stallholde­rs will then be required to submit an applicatio­n and pay a fee. Applicatio­n fees will range from $110 - $310 per week for a 3mx3m site (Friday-Thursday). There are choices of one, two or three weeks of the expo (July 17August 4). Pre-registrati­ons close at 3pm on March 20. Register online at https://www.trybooking.com/BINWP

Cruise ship cancelled

THE Seven Seas Mariner, which was scheduled to stop in at Cooktown on March 8, has been rerouted and will no longer be docking in the town.

New resources

WARRABER Indigenous Knowledge Centre received a new library collection from the State Library of Queensland last week. A range of new books and DVDs are on the shelves and ready for the community to browse, loan and enjoy.

Feral animal control

WEIPA residents are advised that feral animal control activities have started taking place within the township area and will run until March 11. This control program will include the use of firearms at the landfill and tailings dam facility as well as supervised softcatch trapping methods. Due to the proximity to areas such as Evans Landing and Nanum, Queensland Police have also been notified.

Men’s wellbeing

THE Wik Warrior Men’s Group is holding a community get-together aimed at men today at Apunipima Wellbeing Centre at Aurukun. The event is on from 5-7pm with food supplied. Men are invited to come and have a yarn.
