The Friday Trinity Petroleum 6 Hole chook run only had four players due to the storm, and was won by Kev Morris, 12pts. Saturday was a Bunnings-sponsored stableford. Ladies winner Shelley Broadley 33pts, ru-up Robin Beck 32pts, 3rd Janette Hancock 30pts. NTPs 11 J.Hancock, 18 S.Watson. Sunday Tableland Top Meats Stableford and the Juniors will play a stroke round, with Novices starting at 7am. Men’s matchplay nominations will close on Sunday March 15.

The weather hasn’t been that kind over the last week or so, with rain washing out play on Saturday and our Juniors playing in torrential rain at the Peninsula Golf Tryouts at the Cairns Golf Club.

During this time of year an extra hand or two is always welcome on Thursdays to help our 3G team to mow the course. So if you have a spare hour or two, give Des a call and he’ll sort it out for you.

Saturday – Vandelleur & Todd Stableford

The steamy conditions were present for morning and afternoon groups; there was little breeze to help cool the heads of our golfers. There were some great scores from the players. Trent Mann snuck into some form and shot a one over par for 38 points, just to get pipped at the post by Dan Carter who had another impressive round of 39 points!

Junior Golf – 6 Hole competition

Our Juniors got back out on the course but we had to make it a 6-hole challenge as the heat was crazy! Our Juniors played well in preparation for the Peninsula tryouts and we welcomed some new players to our 3-hole comp, Thurston and Sophie Lee!

Our winners were A Gattera, M Costello and T Zadelj. Well done everyone!

With plenty of sunshine and the continuing healthy improvement of the greens, the March Monthly Medal saw Peter Karius pip Dave Casells and Danny Bradley. The course is responding well thanks to the ongoing hard work of Dave, Ian, Colin and Alan along with the support of President Gav. The long drives were a family affair with Shane and Caraline Soper keeping the ball on the short grass (although Caraline’s could be counted as a “treemendous” drive and outcome). Wednesday’s comp saw Dave Casells taking the chicken, with Anne Heinemann the best putter again! Next Sunday will be an 18-hole Stableford for a club trophy. Don’t forget the Social night this Friday with the bar open from 5.30 and meals from 6.30. Good golfing and see you at the 19th.
