Toilet rolls … herd mentality of sheep following sheep, greed, fear and selfishness. And we fought through the bushfires. Australians cared about Australians. Richard, Palm Cove

It must happen some time ahead, if it is necessary to make the northern areas forge ahead. There is definitely a need for either the Collinsville power station rebuild or the Tully Millstream hydro and dam system, killed by Kevin Rudd when he was the Queensland Government adviser to the Wayne Goss government.

Rudd was frightened of upsetting the Green votes and losing them for Goss.

There are so many lost opportunities over this period and then we have the additional loss of funding for such adventures under federal governments over a 30-year period. Just look at the uncertainity of the NAIF funding?

We couldn’t do worse could we?

John Patrick Burns, Cairns right thing, and does wrong to people, that is a definition of evil.

Time to wake up. The left have been progressively eliminating the definition of evil, except when it is something they don’t like.

They have made this permissive society in order to get to do their ideals to do what they want, which has brought this tragedy upon us. In turn, our now expensive jails grow as they crack down on offenders too late, rather than curb their enthusiasm before they move on to more serious crime. I see enough youth crime myself around here, spurred on by low responsility (low budget) government departments.

They refuse to spend the extra money on more of the preventive policing, which would save us money and hassle in the long run.

Their mistakes are buried, without much regard for us. Shame on the politicians who are supposed to watch over this and over the public service in order to prevent wrong-headed idealists from taking over by stealth.

Virtually every major regular issue we have seems to stem from these wrongheaded people. Both Labor and Liberal have let us down severely. It is time for a change.
