WHAT THEY SAID AT CANNON PARK

-

Race 1 – Maiden Handicap (950m)

Buoyancy for trainer Roy Chillemi and jockey Stephen Wilson

“He was travelling and he had a good barrier,” Chillemi said. “I reckon he will win a few races, yes, and he is only a four-year-old. There is no doubt he will keep improving until he is five and six years of age.”

Race 2 – Class 6 Plate (950m)

Little Stryker for trainer Renee Schluenz and jockey Bonnie Thomson

“I was surprised how quick she jumped out,” Schluenz said. “She has not done that for a while. She got out well. She does not really need the speed in the race, she is so versatile. I hope there are a few more left in her.”

Race 3 – QTIS Three-YearsOld Maiden Handicap (1250m)

Bet On Love for trainer Roy Chillemi and jockey Emily Cass “Today she lobbed in front nicely. The 1250m is probably as far as she will go,” Chillemi said. “I think she will be very effective over the 1000m. She was travelling well and Emily rode her well.”

Race 4 – Open Handicap (1250m)

Windmill Lane for trainer Ricky Ludwig and jockey Emily Cass “I did not want to lead, but they crawled and Emily could do nothing else,” Ludwig said. “He is the best horse in it, I keep telling all these fellas all the time, he has won 17 races now.

“When are they going to learn that he is the best sprinter up here? I keep being told Ruler is the best sprinter up here but I do not know where he is.”

Race 5 – Benchmark 65 Handicap (1400m)

Barwon for trainer Rodney Miller and jockey Bonnie Thomson

“The horse has been working well; Scott Gittos has been riding him in work, but when the horse is on, he is on,” Miller said.

Race 6 – Class 3 Plate (1250m)

So You Dream for trainer Andrew Cameron and jockey Bonnie Thomson

“He has been racing against some pretty good horses,” Thomson said.

“That form down Rocky and Mackay way – everything has a bit of form – and we have come back to a little bit lower in Cairns.”

Race 7 – Ratings Band 0 – 58 Handicap (950m)

Fine ’N’ Devine for trainer Rhonda Inglis and jockey Krysten Swaffer

“It was more of a patient ride,” Swaffer said. “I had to let her fall out of the gates, make her feel comfortable and then ride for luck. That is what we did.”

Race 8 – Ratings Band 0 – 55 Handicap (1400m)

Emshalky for trainer Michael Jokic and jockey Pietro Romeo “That was a good win,” Romeo said.
