On coronavirus

-

I really feel for businesses in Queensland today with COVID-19 lockdowns and border closures still in effect while we have no current outbreaks with the virus in North Queensland. I own a half a million dollars investment that is struggling to survive the crisis and I don’t know what I am going to do if our Premier keeps the borders and lockdowns in until September. I am only 44 years old, and 25 years of working paying off a loan could be all gone down the drain this year.

Who is this Dr Jeannette Young (CP, 23/05)? Who elected her to run Queensland? Why is she in charge of everything? Why aren’t all our elected reps in on the decision making? Will Dr Young be losing her job in October when Labor gets booted in the state election? Since when is it government’s job to prevent us getting seasonal flu? Will we have a lockdown every flu season now? How did we end up badly ruled by overeducated unelected bureaucrats? Anyone?

I wish the two Channel 9 newsreaders would get their facts right as coming on national television and telling us that “Queensland is leading the world” in the fight against coronavirus is absolute rot and these people really need to take a look at places like America, Italy and Germany who are still suffering and losing lives instead of mouthing off as we Queenslanders hardly suffered at all. So, Sir Frank. You want to open our borders, risking the health of all Queenslander’s for the sake of the tourist dollar. Perhaps those hospitality workers are living a better life on $1500 f/n than the wages they’d be getting from their employers. Shut up, and let the doctors call the shots. We are all suffering more than you.
