MILLAA MILLAA GOLF

What a wonderful day it was to be alive and to be able to play the game we all love. Over 20 were this Sunday for an Eclectic Stableford. Again this week we were able to take another step on our journey back to normality and we even were able to have our members draw, which was not won, and our Sunday draw which was won by Ross Heidke.

This week’s winner with 25 points was Alan (Happy) Hapgood, well done. Second was again decided by the countback and winner by one stroke was Ray Marsh on 22, loser of the countback was Geoff Errey, well played guys. We started nearest to the pins again and on 1/10 the winner was Ash Healy, even though Bob Collyer tried to talk him out of it, 5/14 was one by Lenny Hankinson and the second shot to

8/17 was won by Richard (Sol) Sullivan.

Also this week we welcome Mark Toomey to those with an Eagle Badge with a great shot on the second, (index four, that’s a good effort). The Mt Garnet round of the Tableland Challenge has been moved, due to Covid 19, from next week to the August 23. INNISFAIL BOWLS

Men’s: Welcome bowlers. Due to some coronaviru­s restrictio­ns being eased, we have resumed Thursday afternoon bowling. We are permitted 10 bowlers on the green at any time. So we have two timeslots, 1-3pm and 3.305.30pm. The club house phone will be manned from noon, names in by 12.30pm please, with a preference of timeslot. This format was played last Saturday. Please adhere to the social distancing and self-sanitising regulation­s. The club house kitchen/bar will not be operating yet. Innisfail Ladies Bowls: What a great day last Saturday was. 20 signed up; 10 at each time slot. The same system will apply for Weds. Games will be walking pairs or singles, all players to have four bowls.

Weds Sporters Stableford: winner Roy MurrayPrio­r 25 pts, ru-up Bob Stoward 24 pts, third was Ray Faulkner 23 pts. Least putts Roy 17. Thursday Ladies Stableford winner: Lisa Lowres 34 pts, ru-up Sandra Watson 33 pts on c/b from Elizabeth Stoward and Lois Cross.

Friday 6 Hole Chook run won by Broads 14 pts, ru-up Daz Morey 13 pts on c/b from Ray, Bockchow and Swifty.

Saturday weather was ordinary with rain. The Ladies probably used common sense and stayed home while 35 men braved the elements. Winner with 38 pts was mudrunner Peter Doherty, ru-up Swifty Finlen 37 pts, while President Johno and Brian Hughes had 35 pts. Sunday morning dawned a beautiful day where 42 players played Stableford. Winner with 41 pts was Jamie McLoughlin, finding some form before the Championsh­ips, ru-up was Daz Morey 40 pts and third Des Riggs 39 pts.

The Juniors Played Stableford teeing off with 8C and a hail shower but finishing off in sunshine. Peewee’s winner Jonty Stevens, ru-up Kintaro Francis. Least putts Ben DuPlessis. Tadpole’s winner Tom Cannan, ru-up Aiden Leibel, least putts Shintaro & Aiden. Novice’s winner Ethan Norris, ru-up Robert Close.
