Sacrifices not justified

-

CAIRNS MP Michael Healy said: ”Our priority has always been preservation of life and the protection of people in vulnerable communities.” (Cairns Post, 26/5)

But locking up the Yarrabah community so, as Federal MP Bob Katter noted, “They can’t even get shoes, underwear or warm blankets” is ridiculous.

Mr Healy said everyone had been forced to make sacrifices; ”forced” being the key word.

We who are ”forced to make sacrifices“might be more willing if there were credible scientific proof that key restriction such as isolation, social distancing and travel restrictions were essential.

There are numerous credible scientific studies that demonstrate the opposite.

Meanwhile, our local economy has been ruined.
