Aquarium cafe opens
DUNDEE’S Restaurant at the Cairns Aquarium will be reopening today. The restaurant will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, open for lunch on Wednesday to Sunday from 11.30am-3pm, open for dinner on Thursday to Saturday, 5.30pm-late and the cafe will be open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am-4pm. The restaurant tank will be joined by new permanent resident, Nico the nine-month-old leopard shark.
Five times over limit
A 36-YEAR-OLD Innisfail man will face Innisfail Magistrates Court on Monday after he was allegedly busted driving almost five times over the legal limit. The man was intercepted by police at Goondi Hill about 3am on Wednesday for a roadside breath test. He was transported to Innisfail Police Station for further testing. It is alleged he returned a reading of 0.225 per cent BAC. The man was charged.
Libraries are e-busy
CAIRNS residents have turned increasingly to online borrowing with Cairns Libraries reporting a marked increase in the use of digital resources. Digital resource figures for May 2020 compared to the same period last year revealed a 54 per cent increase in eBook and eAudio book loans through the Borrow Box App, and a 106 per cent increase in digital loans via the RBDigital App.
There was also a 15 per cent rise in borrowing eMagazines and a 260 per cent increase in eMovies.
Motorbike stolen
TABLELANDS police are investigating after a motorbike was stolen from a Tolga property at the weekend. The Honda CB600 motorbike with Queensland registration plates VO797 was stolen from a Tolga Road address some time between June 20-21. The motorbike had the word ‘Hornet’ on the tank. Police urged anyone with information to contact police and quote reference number QP2001295876.
