Depp’s out cold just like his ice cream
LONDON: Johnny Depp’s staffer labelled the star’s ex-wife Amber Heard a “sociopathic show pony” in explosive text messages read out during the actor’s London court case.
And the Pirates of the Caribbean star called Heard a “c..t” in a separate text message because she had accused him of drinking.
More details of the toxic relationship between the pair were revealed at London’s High Court on Tuesday as Depp, 57, sued The Sun newspaper for defamation over a 2018 article that described him as a “wife beater”.
The court was shown a photograph of Depp passed out, with ice cream spilt over his clothes, which was taken by Heard, 34, who got $10m in their divorce settlement.
She claimed she took the photograph to show him how “pathetic” he was when he was using drugs on the day he was due to go into rehab.
The photo was tendered in court, as evidence was given by a frontdesk supervisor at the Los Angeles complex that housed Depp’s penthouse.
Trinity Esparza told the court the only time she noticed bruises and marks on Heard’s face was after billionaire Tesla founder Elon Musk had spent the night at Depp’s home while the actor was away. Heard took out a restraining order against Depp in May 2016.
Depp’s personal assistant Stephen Deuters gave evidence defending his boss of 16 years. He denied Depp was a heavy drug user and said it wasn’t common for him to be passed out because of substance abuse. In a text message to Depp’s friend, actor Paul Bettany, Mr Deuters said Heard was a “sociopathic show pony’’.
