Sex assault charges

A MAN accused of sexually assaulting three women on a suburban street before trying to get into a car with a fourth has fronted court again. The Far North man is charged with three counts of sexual assault and one count each of burglary and attempting to enter a premises. The 28-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has not pleaded to the charges. Police allege he committed the offences in Manoora on April 30. The accused remains on bail. The matter is due before court again on September 13.

Sedan crash blaze

A MAN escaped a fiery crash on the Captain Cook Hwy at Mowbray on Sunday with minor injuries. Just after 2pm, a white sedan crashed into a tree before bursting into flames. The man was treated at the scene for cuts and abrasions before being taken to Mossman Hospital. The road was closed in both directions for two hours.

Work on roads

THE Department of Transport and Main Roads will carry out resealing works between August 11 and 15 on the Mossman Mount Molloy Rd between the highway and Pashens Bridge. Also, work will be done on the Captain

Cook Hwy between McCelland Rd and Killaloe Dump Rd. Changed traffic conditions will be in place, including temporary speed limit reductions and single lane work.

Vehicle rollover

PARAMEDICS were called to the scene of a single-vehicle rollover off Bamboo Rd and Alexander Drive at Mission Beach at 1.15am on Sunday. One patient was assessed on scene, however declined ambulance transport to hospital.

BEST friends really are forever – at least for girls. New research reveals teen girls have stronger friendship­s than boys. They’re also more likely to share secrets. Study co-author Professor Yves Zenou, of Monash Business School, said girls often developed strong friendship­s by helping each other. Seven in 10 girls interviewe­d reported discussing a problem with female friends.
