Vandals have put lives at risk
THE mindless fool or fools who ripped out or damaged important road safety signs in Jensen St, Edge Hill, over the weekend must have a brain the size of a pea.
But that might also suggest how they had the strength to remove or bend the signs.
How would they feel if a motorist did not see the stop sign — which was bent over parallel to the road way at the Richardson St intersection — and collided with another vehicle, causing death or injury?
Or could not read the 30km/h advisory corner speed limit sign near Springfield Crescent and ploughed into the units on the bend?
Your feats of testosterone (and probably alcohol and/or drug) driven stupidity were dangerous.
Not only that, but the stop sign at Richardson St could have easily slashed a tyre or the leg of a runner, walker or cyclist.
At last count, eight signs were vandalised, including another stop sign at Greenslopes St twisted at an angle, a 60km/h sign thrown into the back of a parked ute at Russell St and a Jensen St sign pulled out and discarded on the grass verge at Boden St.
Cairns Regional Council estimates the cost of repairs and/or replacement to be $3000-plus.
It’s another pointless cost to ratepayers because of someone who didn’t think of the consequences of their actions.
Go to the gym and lift weights or take out your frustrations on a punching bag.
Area councillor Max O’Halloran had a blunt message to the idiot(s): “Pull your head in."
