Saturday 10th April Championship Pairs Round One saw Cornelia Smith and Elaine Whitehead defeat Jill Alexander-Sachse and

Beth Gray 27-9. Thursday 8th April Social Bowls Jill Alexander-Sachse and Beth Gray defeat Yvonne Bolton and Elaine Whitehead 13-10.

Men’s Mixed Social Bowls:

Saturday 10th April 2021 Social Pairs winners were Geoff Royle and Jeannie Wild. Jackpot not won and now sits at $864+. Social bowls will continue Tuesday (Day and Night), Wednesday night triples with Saturday afternoon pairs or triples depending on numbers.

SOUTH JOHNSTONE

Last Friday night 32 bowlers enjoyed a game of bare foot bowls at the South Johnstone Bowls Club with visitors from far away as Weipa enjoying a night of bowls, with the overall winners on the night going to Kristy Johnson, Tabby Lucas, Vera Rowe and Anna Rowbottom. At the next Friday Night Bowls which is due to be held on Friday 14th May Club Patron Wally

Kriesel will be donating meet trays as prizes for the night – all visitors and members are welcome to attend.

The men’s club championship fours were played on Sunday with the teams skipped by Shane Mc Inerney and Roy Mc Carty progressing through to the final which will be played next Sunday

18th April at 9:00 am – good luck to all the players involved.

This week the Men’s Club will commence the Division 1 and Division 3 pennants competition with Division 1 playing at Innisfail and Division 3 at South Johnstone. Players will be contacted this week regarding the teams.

Sunday 18th April 9.00 am will be the last training day for our District Bowls Side at Mossman. The four teams will be announced and uniforms tried on for the first time. WEST CAIRNS TPI

Last Monday eighteen players enjoyed lawn bowls on the artificial surface protected from the elements by a cover at West Cairns Bowls Club. The weather stayed fine for the period of play but the players could feel the humid conditions. The team of Tony Simao, David Nicholls and Ken Broughton were declared the winners. Next Monday, after the committee members meeting, the game will commence with the calling of the cards at 1.15pm and start of play at 1.30pm. Names are required by the selector as early as possible before play either by mobile phone contact on 0409624623 or by using the sheet situated inside the clubhouse. Closing time for nominations is 12.45pm and all players are asked to be present before 1.15pm.

No hot drinks can be served at the moment, but a substantial afternoon tea of sandwiches and cake are provided as part of the green fee charged. Members are reminded that some annual fees are still outstanding and should be paid as soon as possible. Any registered player from any club is welcomed to join our club for non-competitive mixed lawn bowls on any Monday afternoon. Further information is available by contacting our selector.
