Reality couple is on the move again

- SAMANTHA HEALY

IT IS house blues for former House Rules contestants Maddi and Lloyd Wright, who have listed their beloved Queenslander home for sale.

Posting to social media on Tuesday, Maddi wrote: “Our gorgeous home is now for sale … a bittersweet moment. We’ve worked hard on restoring this stunning modern Queenslander home in Freshwater, Cairns. Get in quick. it won’t last long!”

And with 125,000 followers across Facebook and Instagram,

the house is unlikely to remain on the market for long.

Listed with Alli Paterson, of Property Shop Cairns, the five-bedroom Queenslander has been restored to its former glory.

Within walking distance of local parks, shops and soughtafter schools, the house sits on a 586 sqm block.

Incorporating modern and traditional features, the house features polished timber floors, casement windows, tongue and groove walls and high ceilings.

On the upper level there is a new kitchen with stone benchtops and modern appliances, an upstairs open plan living area that opens on to the entertaining deck, four bedrooms including a master bedroom with an ensuite, and a modern family bathroom.

Downstairs, which can be accessed via an internal staircase, there is a guest bedroom, study, another bathroom, the laundry and an entertaining area overlooking the pool.

There is also a double garage.

Maddi and Lloyd moved to Cairns after selling their renovated Townsville house in 2014.

The couple bought a block of land and built a house, before selling it to buy the

Freshwater property.

“We never really intended to sell it (the Queenslander),” Maddi, a mum-of-two, said.

“But we must be suckers for punishment because we have bought another block of land and are building again.

“So something had to give.”

With the vacancy rate in Cairns at record lows, Maddi joked that she hoped the new owner would let them stay on until their new build was complete. “That would be great,” she laughed. As for what she would miss most about the house, Maddi said the location and the “feel” of the house would make it a “bittersweet sale”.

“We have loved living here,” she said, adding that it was the perfect family home.

Agent Alli Paterson said she had already fielded “quite a few inquiries” from locals and buyers further field.

“The house has been beautifully done but it will be the (school) catchment that will be the big selling point,” she said.

“And it is only 10 minutes from the city.”
