Site to focus on fusion
A NEW “Australian fusion” restaurant has agreed to terms and could be trading from a Cairns Esplanade tenancy within weeks.
The closure of the Ala Turka restaurant on the Cairns Esplanade has provided a rare opportunity for new tenants to capitalise on a recently completed Cairns Regional Council dining precinct.
Knight Frank Cairns listing agent Matt Carless said the $28m upgrade was a big selling point when marketing the fully set-up restaurant.
“It was no sooner on the market and we had two or three people serious about the restaurant and one has agreed to terms,” he said.
“That’s the golden mile between Shields and Aplin streets that is the best area and the new tenants could not do better. He has walked in to something already fitted out and they will be rebirthing it in the coming weeks.”
Mr Carless said a family illness forced outgoing owners of Ala Turka Turkish Restaurant to exit the tenancy in order to return to their homeland.
Mr Carless said the Esplanade property had its own bathroom amenities, cold room and freezers, together with side access to the rear for deliveries, and a storage shed for stock and equipment.
The interior of the restaurant has a large dining area with a raised section and a bar, to take advantage of the stunning views of the water and Esplanade parkland.
“The location is second to none, and everything is in place to make this a success,” he said.
Mr Carless said the new tenant had secured an outstanding restaurant opportunity located in the prime Esplanade location.
“I reckon they will be trading within six weeks, it will have a bit of refit but everything is there, it’s just a bit of a remodel,” he said.
Mr Carless said the property has a substantial fit-out with all the required equipment in place. The former leaseholder was trading up until late last month.
