Scary ideas
Branch out: Nothing creates a spooky vibe quicker than a Halloween tree. Decorate it with cobwebs, orange and black tinsel and fake spiders. Create ornaments by colouring cutouts of ghosts, pumpkins, vampires or witches.
Scene setter: To decorate a plain wall, use scene setters. You can buy these at party stores, or make your own. Just find a Halloween picture you like – witch, pumpkin, ghost or spooky tree – draw it on to large sheets of black paper and then cut them out and stick them on your wall or in your window.
Get webbed: Cheap cobwebs in loads of different Halloween colours are available from supermarkets and dollar stores, and most come with a pack of spiders for an authentic look. Use velcro dots to secure it in place, and it won’t blow away or come unstuck.
Spooky jars: Mason jars are easy to decorate for Halloween and they look great in the yard when you pop a battery-powered tea light inside.
Cover them with whatever colour tissue paper you like, so they still glow when the light is illuminated.
