Matt Canavan (CP, 21/10) swimming against a storm surge of public opinion, economic and human survival. Renewable energy is already creating the jobs of the future and Australia is a major player in this revolution. Our manufacturing, technology and agriculture industries the major beneficiaries and suppliers.

I wonder if Matt Canavan (CP 21/10) has considered how many jobs would be lost in the next hundred years if there was zero action on fossil fuel emissions. History would record humanity used China as an excuse, to simply watch the climate change disasters happen and did nothing.

For the people who are capable of losing weight and don’t want to lose weight it’s your decision. But if you get sick and need to go to hospital, it should be at your own expense. Medicare should not cover it. If you die then that was your decision not to lose weight. The country needs to focus on the 80% slender people.

RE Mackay freak hail storms, I get annoyed when media refer to Mackay as North Queensland. When was the last time they looked at a map of Queensland? More like Central Queensland.

Using Scoobie’s logic (CP, 21/10) on the non vaxxed having to pay for their own hospital care, means overweight, smokers, STD, alcoholic and drug addicted patients should also have to pay for their own admission. It was their lifestyle choices that led to their hospitalisation too.

Thumbs down for the coffee shop in the departure lounge at the airport. They are still using plastic spoons. I thought this evil act was illegal now. Sue, Cairns North

Why is it called a roadmap out of the pandemic/ We are not driving a car or bus. Although it feels like a bus ride at times. Roadmap is just that, a map of roads. So to all the politicians please call it a plan.

The idea of exporting solar energy to Singapore via a very thick copper cable that extends a couple of thousand kilometres across the sea floor is so ridiculous it’s hilarious. Can you imagine the pirates lining up to steal all that expensive copper? Can you imagine the cost of defending that length of cable from those pirates? Honestly, renewables promoters are shamelessly impractical.

Re: Ian (CP, 21/10). How could any tourism operator not be vaxxed? Paul, Manunda

Warren Entsch (CP, 21/10) should stand as a salient lesson for conservative voters. The LNP is enacting Greens policies. The LNP sold us out. Nobody who voted for Warren Entsch in Leichhardt was voting for ScoMo’s Net Zero. Conservative voters will need to look for someone else to vote for.
