Key Cowboy Hess to saddle up for another two years

NORTH Queensland Cowboys backrower Coen Hess has re-signed with the Cowboys for another two seasons.

Hess’s signing was announced Monday afternoon and will see the former

Queensland State of Origin representa­tive remain at the Cowboys until at the least the end of 2024.

The Ignatius Park College old boy has played 115 first-grade games for the Cowboys since making his NRL debut in 2015.

Hess revealed he had no intention to consider offers from other clubs, saying he felt a measure of loyalty to the club that gave him his NRL start.

“It doesn’t seem that long ago that I made my debut, so I’m really enjoying my time here, especially with the new facilities,” he said.

“I can sense and feel that there are more exciting times ahead.”

Cowboys general manager of football Micheal Luck said he was thrilled.

“This extension ensures Coen can continue to focus on his developmen­t as a footballer but also as an emerging leader in our playing group, who we believe will be crucial in guiding our next generation of young forwards.”
