Kids’ cash disparity

BOYS under the age of 12 earn $52 more per year than girls in pocket money, a startling new report has revealed.

New research from comparison website, Finder, found boys received an average of $10.30 a week in pocket money compared with $9.30 for girls.

Overall, 49 per cent of Aussie children under 12 receive pocket money, and the average weekly allowance is $9.80.

One in four kids receive between $5–$10 per week, while 8 per cent get between $11– $20. A further 7 per cent receive more than $30 per week.

The survey also found 7 per cent of children under 12 had a share trading account.
