We welcomed new member Dorothy Field to our club coming from Scarborough Club in Brisbane. Four of our ladies are included in TFNQDLBA team competing in the District Side Competition played at Paradise Point Bowls Club from May 4th - 7th good bowling and best wishes. Terry, Dareyle and Judy will stay on to play the State Championships with Sue Brady all the best and enjoy. Men’s Section: Results: Wed. Ladies Social Bowls

Thursday 14th April Social Bowls were washed out. Put names for Social Bowls in by 2:30 for a 3:00pm start for Thursday 28st April 2022. Urgent Reminder that members and coaches are still required to assist Cairns High School visits commencing from Thursday 28th April at 10am. See notice board for nominations to assist.

Men’s Mixed Social Bowls:

Tuesday 19th April 2022 winners were Wendy and Mike Lynn. R/U: Ray Webster, Col Whyte and Gary Pomroy. L/C: Karina Homer and Kim Mitchell. Tuesday Jackpot of $424 was won by Mike and Wendy. Tuesday night winners were Debbie, Terry and Janet. Wednesday 20th April night results winners were George, Wayne and Ray. R/Up: Sandy, John and Andrew.

Men’s Pennants Saturday 23rd April 2022: Edge Hill Division 1 played Marlin Coast at Marlin Coast. Edge Hill won on all rinks 77-43. Division 2 played West Cairns at West Cairns and Edge Hill lost 34-51 and Division 3 against Brothers Edmonton away was washed out and will be rescheduled.

Saturday Social bowls will again be played on 30th April 2022 as no Pennants games are scheduled and the Bruno Destro Shield will be played at Silkwood.

Club Events: Check the Notice board for all games to be played in the “A” Singles. Kim Mitchell defeated Lyle Braggins 25-16 and next games due are J. Walker V’s. P. Lee., S. Henson V’s. M. Styles.

“B” Singles games scheduled are P. Whitehead V’s. A. Henson and I. Stafford V’s. G. Pomroy. Please arrange your markers. Wednesday 1pm Social Bowls Names by 1230pm New players welcome Great to see more ladies playing last week Thursday Club Selected 3 bowl Pairs Names by 12-30 for 1pm start. No bowls played last Thursday due to rain Saturday 23rd April. The combined team Gordonvale Cairns won their 1st game in Division 2 Pennant at Innisfail. Well done.

Wednesday April 20th: 2x 12 end games of fours – Winners Elio Crema, Lorenzo Cadorin, Deryck Harrigan, Yvonne Vogler. The club welcomed visitors Bryce and Heather from Bundaberg. Thursday April 21st: 4 bowl Jackpot pairs selfselected, 1st Barry Lynne’s team 2nd Raewyn’s team best 2nd game Brian Fitzpatrick’s team. Jackpot remains.

Sunday April 24th 31 players tried their luck under rainy skies, after an early smoko bowlers went on to finish 2 x 12 end games. Winners Brian Fitzpatrick, Norma Gray, Santina Tirraboschi. R/up Gary Kriesel, Joy Dennis, Deryck Harrigan, Coral Milloy.

WEST CAIRNS TPI

Sixteen players were on hand to recognise the significance of Anzac Day last Monday at West Cains Bowls Club by starting the afternoon enjoying a dish of home made stew prepared by several of our members followed later at afternoon tea by Anzac biscuits and tarts. These were enjoyed by everyone despite the weather not being cooperative at all during the afternoon. Winners awarded a small prize were Mick Ford, Adrienne and Fred Clarke. It was decided that players would play north to south to avoid being affected by the consistent rain showers all afternoon. Next Monday will again be another public holiday but we will be in action as usual, commencing at 130pm and concluding at 4.30pm Cards will be called at 1.15pm and it is asked that all players be present at this time. If you wish to join us to enjoy social mixed bowls with our friendly players, please contact our selector Rosemary on 0409624623 as soon as possible. She will provide any information you may need to ensure you have an enjoyable afternoon. Afternoon tea is provided as part of the green fee charged. The game is open to any players from any location and has attracted overseas players in the past. We look forward to meeting you soon.
